CANCELLATION INSURANCE
Going on a trip is good for morale! Unless a tiny hitch suddenly disrupts the departure of a trip paid for months in advance.
The unexpected, in the form of an accident or a severe flu, can then ruin your morale… and your wallet!
Remember that an emergency always occurs when you are least prepared for it!
Travel Cancellation Insurance
By purchasing cancellation insurance, you receive comprehensive protection in the event of cancellation due to a medical issue affecting you or your close relatives, or if you cancel your trip due to an event preventing its realization.
Please note that it is not mandatory; however, it is highly recommended to obtain one, despite the additional costs.
Policyholders are also advised to thoroughly read their travel insurance contract before purchase to understand the exact cancellation and refund conditions.
When to Purchase Travel Cancellation Insurance?
Generally, this contract is purchased at the time of booking your trip. This guarantee will be systematically offered by the tour operator and provides the benefit of reimbursing you for costs incurred should you cancel your trip for one of the reasons stipulated in your contract.
From Whom to Purchase?
Various providers offer travel insurance options:
Travel agencies (which work with travel insurance specialists). We offer our Chaubet Courtage insurance, which you will find in the downloadable documents.
Your bank: You will need to check the services offered by your credit card contract (for high-end cards such as Visa Premier, Gold MasterCard, American Express, Infinite card, etc.), but please review the terms of use:
-
- Inquire about the individuals covered by your card (couple, partner, child, etc.).
- The countries where your travel insurance is effective.
- The benefits to which you are entitled.
Risks Covered by Travel Cancellation Insurance
The covered risks must be listed in the insurance contract: illness, death, accident, problem following vaccination, dismissal, relocation, divorce, passport theft, etc.
An additional condition is required:
Risks must be unpredictable at the time of contract purchase (A traveler who is ill before purchasing travel insurance will not subsequently be able to claim their illness for reimbursement of expenses).
Exclusions
Certain risks are not covered by travel cancellation insurance, such as traveler suicide or depression. Epidemics, strikes, and participation in certain high-risk sports are systematically excluded.
Cancellation of the trip by the organizer is also not covered (however, the traveler will have recourse as provided for by Article L211-14 of the Tourism Code).
You have purchased insurance; what steps should be taken in case of trip cancellation?
– In the event of a cancellation before departure, you must promptly inform SUD EVASION of the name(s) of the participants to be cancelled. This date will be considered the day the claim is declared to the insurance provider.
– Cancellations cannot be accepted by phone and must be notified by registered letter or email to our travel agency as soon as possible.
– When sending your registered letter, it is imperative to attach all “official” supporting documents pertaining to your impediment.
– Sud Evasion will send you a complete file to complete and return to the insurance provider (you will find this file, along with the required documents, in the downloadable section).
– With this file, you will receive an invoice from Sud Evasion detailing the fees withheld (according to the cancellation schedule mentioned in the booking contract). If you have paid more than the withheld fees, we will refund the difference.
Please note: The cost of the cancellation insurance, as well as the €40 administration fee (per person), will be withheld.
– Insurance reimbursement will be processed within 1 month from the date the COMPLETE file is submitted, provided that all requested documents are present and the file is accepted by the insurance provider.
GOOD TO KNOW
In case of cancellation, Sud Evasion will retain a non-refundable €40 file processing fee per person.
Please note: The insurance will under no circumstances cover trips that are not fully paid one month prior to departure.
An insurer’s deductible may apply for most cancellation reasons (see contract).
Fees for issuing passports, visas, and other customs clearance documents, as well as insurance premiums and agency administration fees, are non-refundable.
Repatriation Assistance Insurance
In case of a problem during the trip, the insurance will cover the costs incurred in the event of an accident or health issue.
You will benefit from all the coverages defined in the contract of our insurer MAPFRE ASSISTANCE
L’Européenne d’Assurances Voyages, no. 7 906 139, which you will find in the downloadable documents section.
The Best Practice: Call!
Immediately upon the occurrence of an issue, it is imperative to contact the Company’s Assistance Center by calling the assistance desk, which is available 24/7, prior to any intervention.
From abroad: tel: 00 33 4 37 28 83 49 fax: 00 33 1 46 43 50 26
From France: tel: 04 37 28 83 49 fax: 01 46 43 50 26
A case number will then be issued, which alone will authorize the coverage of services.
From that moment on, you will be covered by the insurance.
